Sweater Sprint to the finish!

8/27/08: Edited to add size of needles used "for the rest" and photo of the back.

The buttonbands are damp, but it's blocked and all the ends are woven in. Edamame is finished and the Olympic flame is still burning. *whew*

Ravelympics Day 6

Last time I showed you the training in progress.

Edamame looks like this tonight:

The 1x1 ribbing at the bottom is replaced by a garter eyelet border a la the VK Cable Lace Cardigan.

Edamame hem

I took a page from Turtlegirl's very cute modifications and did away with the rib at the bodice and went straight from st st to lace. The ribbon on her sweater is so sweet, but it may or may not happen on Edamame. It depends on how many holes there are on the fronts... there need to be an odd number on each front in order for the lace trim to work the way I want it to.

St st to lace

So far so good!

In training

The Ravelympics are less than a week away and I'm in training with Team BobaKnit.

I'm entering the Sweater Sprint with a finer gauge version of Hey Teach! in SWTC Oasis Soy Silk.

Edamame

After swatching and washing, I like the drape and feel of the fabric at 21.5 sts/26 rows = 4 inches st st. Compare that to the pattern gauge of 17 sts/24 rows and I'll have a bit of figurin' to do to get the size right. Also I'd like to do something other than the 1x1 rib at the hem and bodice. I'll think of something.

So there's the challenge. Figure out the adjustments and modifications and knit a sweater in 17 days while I have a heavy workload at the office.

Let the games begin!
