In the garden

I planted twice as much basil this year than I did last year. It wasn't happy in the heat yesterday, but it bounced back today. We'll have pesto soon.

The Bartlett Pears are hanging on even though the squirrels attack them on a regular basis.

The tomatoes are coming in, but they're all green. With 10 plants, we'll be swimming in heirlooms & Sungolds if all goes well.

The Jalapenos are forming. Salsa anyone?

1/4 of the fruit cocktail tree is red with Independence Nectarines. Aren't they pretty? The only problem is, the red color is like a beacon for critters. Birds have been pecking away at the fruit, but we might be able to harvest some for ourselves next month.

  • Your garden is fully of beauties! Our most vigorous (purple brandywine??) tomato has kipped over it's cage. Time for my patented string maze to hold them up!
