A new cast-on for double knitting
Clara was in the Double Knitting Portuguese Style class and was wearing a beautiful double knit scarf that she designed. She was generous enough to send the pattern to her fellow students and I started knitting it this week.
A unique feature of Clara's Double Knit Scarf is the cast-on. Most long tail cast-ons for double knitting result in a line of the other color at the cast-on edge. Not Clara's. She came up with a cast-on that results in a solid color all the way to the cast-on edge. Once Clara and her daughter made this video, I was able to do the cast-on and start with a clean edge at the bottom of the scarf.
Now I'm on my way, making a Double Knit Scarf in Louet Gems, Portuguese Style of course.

That's cool - it's like the long tail cast on without the slingshot - which is how my mom does it - plus color stranding of the working yarn. Nice!

but how do you deal with the slip knot? just dropping it leaves a large loop of double yarn that isn't enough to weave in... I am stumped.
