Shawlapalooza progress

Here is the 3rd shawl in the Shawlapalooza trio:

Let me zoom in so you can see the stitch and fancy fiber detail.

The straight section is 20inches long, so I've reached the halfway point. I'm on target for finishing in a week (knock on wood).

  • Ooh, it's lovely!

I like the tall drops nd the yarnover holes, very very nice. These are gonna need to be blocked a bit, aren't they?? Some of my rows are pretty wobbly.

I sure hope the wedding gals like them! Thank you for all the knitting, Janice!

  • I'd like to recommend that you try knitting the mohair wearing dishwashing gloves and a gas mask. FOOLPROOF! HOURS OF SHAWLAPALOOZA! :-) I think the design is wonderful - the yarn looks really neat with the different breaks of the ribbon.

  • Or you could use one of those plexiglas hazmat tanks that have holes in the sides for those rubber gloves. It would be more convenient, wouldn't it? Then you could come & go as you please, without having to worry about the gasmask messing up your hair.

Your prolific production of these most recent half-dozen entries is very impressive.

  • I saw your Zig-Zag sweater on the Yahoo knitalong site. It is beautiful! You did a wonderful job. Can you tell me more about the yarn you used, i.e. fiber content, gauge, yardage, did you double the yarn, etc.? This sweater (as well as VA's Threepenny Pullover) are on my must knit list. What yarn are you using for the Threepenny?

    Love your blog!

  • Hi Kristy,

Thanks, glad you're enjoying the blog.

Threepenny is in the Merino Cashmere blend from Valley Yarns, bought from WEBS. It's a coned yarn treated for machine knitting, so it feels like twine when you're knitting it. That's why Threepenny hasn't progressed. I have a few of posts on the project--take a look at the August & September archives for a link to WEBS, the swatch/wash stats, and a look at the first few inches of the sweater.

Zig Zag stats are in this post: http://knitflix.blogspot.com/2004/12/fo-30-zig-zag.html
The Schoeller Stahl Morea is 51% Merino, 49% Microfiber, and it's 140m/50g per skein.

I don't remember the guage--st/in were what the pattern called for. I don't really pay attention to the rows/in.

    Both sweaters are double stranded.
