Blogger feed issues

I think I've narrowed down the problem where RSS feeds show all of my posts as being updated instead of just one or two. The issue arises when I republish the entire blog. I need to do this when I make a change to the template which includes making changes to the sidebar.

I've reported the problem to Blogger and here's their reply:

We are currently working on fixing the bug that generates full content feeds when the short description option is selected in feed preferences. In the meantime, you can use the 'Republish Index' option to generate a properly formatted feed.
