CA State Fair 2012 - Part 5, Fine Arts
California State Fair
July 12-29
1600 Exposition Blvd
Sacramento, CA
The Fine Arts Exhibition at the fair is recognized as one of California's largest and most prestigious juried art shows. It is always an interesting collection of pieces. As I viewed and admired the works, I wondered how some of the artists transported their pieces to be judged, then again to be displayed.
This piece is a mosaic made of colored paper--they looked like paint chips.
Donn and LaMoyne
Kurt Thomas, Fresno, Fresno County
Other Two Dimensional Artworks - Mixed Media (Colored paper mosaic)
Award of Merit and Northern California Artist's Award
Donn and LaMoyne

I didn't realize that this next one was sugar art until I read the description. Not sure how it held together in the heat.

Okay, how many of these did you have in your kitchen when you were growing up? How many do you still have? (We had quite a few and if I'm not mistaken, many were acquired with Blue Chip Stamps.) Click on the photo for a closer look if you can't tell what they are.

Looks like your state fair is a hugh event with all that entries. Our state fair is more like an agricultural show.
