Big time!
How were the shows? They were great!
Music in The Other Park last week drew about 5000 people and there was no rain (not like 2 years ago). And I swear, most everyone was singing along as The Tubes rocked and rolled into Sushi Girl, She's A Beauty, Talk To Ya Later, and a boatload of other hits. Mitch Miller would have been proud. The guys stayed after the show for a meet and greet and signed autographs until the last fan left. Wow. What a great South Bay reception.
On Saturday night the The Penguin Jazz Quartet opened for The Tubes at The Independent in San Francisco. The crowd loved the Penguins. Well of course they did! Pat, Bill, Keith, and Erik are all great players and they really delivered.

I heard people saying, "Who are these guys?!" as the crowd snapped photos, applauded solos, and were generally bowled over by the jazz technologists.
I wish more of my photos turned out, but there was very little light on stage so most are too blurry to post.

After PJQ, The Tubes put on another high energy show. The hometown crowd was very receptive and enjoyed the music to the hilt.
With all of that, I didn't snap one photo of SO. Oops! I'll post an image from Antioch 2 weeks ago. That makes up for it, right?

Dang, I'm really sorry I missed all of the fun! It wasn't half that much fun in Tucson last weekend. Hopefully there'll be a next time.

The big time was pretty amazing. Dudes who save you a parking place & help unload the gear? Competent sound guys? And a very responsive crowd! A great night for the Penguins, thanks to their 'big brothers' The Tubes.
