Takin' it up a notch

As a follow-up to Juliet's successful appearance at the Contra Costa County Fair, she'll be struttin' her stuff for judges at the California State Fair.

Juliet Pullover .

By her side will be the A Step Above socks in STR Velvet Moon.

A Step Above socks .

Judging will be on July 11th and I should know the results by July 21st when the non-award winning entries will be returned.

I keep thinking about how big California is. 2006 Population was estimated at 36,457,549 by the US Census Bureau. A small % will be knitters, and of those a small % will be submitting entries... but still...

  • Good luck! I wandered through the San Diego county fair knitting entries yesterday, and I have to say that I think the judges down here are on something. Really impressive entrelac scarf with itty bitty squares? Nothing. Gorgeous cabled gansey? Nothing. Garter stitch scarf in novelty yarn? First place. ???? If that's any indication, Juliet won't have much competition from down here, at least that I saw!

  • Hmmm...the California Mid-State Fair isn't until after that - entries for that are July 6 or so. I guess their winning entries don't go to the State Fair?

  • Juliet is gorgeous. I have no idea how socks will do. No question that your Step Ahead socks are much better done than mine!

  • girl, that Juliet is just amazing. When I saw it at the Harlot signing, I was just in awe. Very sure the judges will love it too.
