it's to bad so many people have problems with the ipods. I had a shuffle 2 years ago, brought it on my first trip to australia and the static in the airline blanket kept making it skip. Also i was trying to listen to the Divinci code on it and it's hard to listen to audio books without a visual interface.
So last year I got the black video ipod. I ADORE it. I don't bother with the plans because by the time it breaks (even if its in a year) I will want a new one :)
OH however my black one, I DID actually have to get a new one!! The center button somehow got permantly pushed inwards from being in my purse (I didn't abuse it!) and so it kept draining the power. So I waited several months to send it in (my bad!) it woulda been totally free as it was within 6 months but hten I waited till ike 8 months because I am lazy so I payed $30 for shipping. It was very easy to return using the website. They sent me a BRAND new one, because mine was engraved hehe so it's easier to send you a new one then a refurb one, which is what they normally do. So I always get mine engraved :)
I would definitely recommend getting the film they sell to protect the screen. My video iPod got a little scuffed in my pocket from my keys and that stuff actually covered it up as well as protecting it from more scuffs.
Hi Pixiepurls, I would have thought that any issue found in the first year would have been covered under the mfg warranty, including shipping. But I haven't read the fine print, so I guess they don't pick up the shipping. Anyway, I'm fortunate to have an Apple Store near me so I can return it there.
Abigail, thanks for the tip. I know how quickly they get can get scratched and scuffed. You know that clear film that completely encloses a new iPod? I trimmed it back so it continues to cover the screen, so it's protected for now.
You go with that Applecare warranty! you are good for a while now! And may I recommend the ipodonut. It comes with a free screen protector. I love mine!
