There's good news and bad news
The good news.
At 10:30AM yesterday, Apple Genius Tim was able to use an unsupported hack to bring the iPod back to life. No, he wouldn't tell me what the trick was.
The bad news. A short 4 hours later, the iPod stopped working. Since then it's been a series of resetting, rebooting, reformatting, and reloading using just about every combination and permutation of Mac, PC, music, podcast, and playlist. Right now only podcasts reside on the iPod. Very soon I'll need to buy a new one, but I just can't face the mall again today. Hopefully it'll make it to next weekend.
