Curse of the love jacket?
I bought this book for the beautiful, classic women's sweaters, many of which have been added to my FWIP list.

But there's also this:
It's a jacket, not a sweater. But I think it has the potential to carry with it "the curse". Afterall, I'd need to knit an XL, and it's knit on US5's. That's a lot of stitches. For now, it too goes on the FWIP list.

ooo ooo! i too just bought this book, and i too am considering knitting that for the bf - how cool are the shoulders and elbows? but i'm a nonbeliever when it comes to the curse. there, i said it.

It's only a curse if you believe it. *snoot*

The Salina sweater was the one in that book I was interested in. But I couldn't justify buying the book for just that one pattern. That jacket is pretty great too...but that's a lot of knitting.

Personally, I don't believe in the curse, and I have personal experience (2 sweaters knit for the bf who became my spouse-o)
I do think the knitter has to be prepeared to have the knitted object treated as Just A Sweater and not a sacred relic. Anyone whose feelings will be hurt the first time the bf/child/spouse leaves the sweater in a pile of new-mown grass.. or shuts the sleeve in the car door... should stick to knitting for themselves. Part of knitting for someone else is Letting Go.
Maybe it's the obsession with how the giftee is treating the sweater that causes the curse.

Let me see if I understand. An FO is not a sacred relic?
